Northhack Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 27, 2025

Welcome to Northhack Media!

We operate in Sweden and collaborate with various entities worldwide. We help create, develop, and deliver some of your games and development tools that facilitate all aspects of game development, such as a game engine.

This Privacy Policy describes the various ways in which we may collect, use, and share information about, through, or in connection with Northhack Media services (see "What are Northhack Media services?" below). If you have any questions, you can always contact us as described in "Contact Us" below. When we refer to "Northhack" (or similar terms such as "we" or "us") in this Privacy Policy, we mean the entity that controls and is responsible for your information, including Northhack Game, for providing and supporting Northhack services. You can also find information about who is the data controller for personal data we collect through various Northhack services in "Contact Us" below.

1. WHAT ARE NORTHHACK SERVICES?

We use the term "Northhack services" to describe all Northhack products or services directly linked to this Privacy Policy. These include, for example:

  • Games like Oxide;

  • Websites and applications such as www.northhackgame.com;

  • Live events where this Privacy Policy is posted;

  • Developer tools, including the developer portal and the game engine.

Please note that your use of Northhack services may also be subject to additional terms. For example, you must review and accept the Oxide User License Agreement to play Oxide. Please read this entire Privacy Policy. You should also carefully review any other agreements that apply to the Northhack services you use, and confirm that you understand and agree to them, before using these products or services.

2. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

The types of information we collect depend on how you interact with us. Generally, we collect information in three main ways:

  • When you provide it to us,

  • Automatically when you use Northhack services,

  • From service providers and third parties.

A. Information You Provide

You may provide us with various types of information depending on how you interact with Northhack Services. Sometimes we will ask you to provide specific information, for example, when we need it to provide parts of Northhack services to you (e.g., by asking you to enter your date of birth or complete an online registration process). If we ask you to provide us with information in these cases and you choose not to do so, you may not be able to access the relevant Northhack services and/or certain features may not function as intended. For instance, to make purchases on Northhack Game pages and to play some of our games, you need a Northhack Game account. If you wish to create an account, you must provide us with basic registration information such as your name, a public display name, password, the country you reside in, and your email address. If you wish to make a purchase, we may ask you to provide payment-related information (e.g., your credit card number and expiration date) to complete the transaction. Additionally, many of our services require your date of birth to determine what features we can offer you and what settings to apply to your account based on your age and location. We also collect information you voluntarily provide to sign up for email notifications, use social features like forums or chat, register for early access to our games, use our developer tools (including to create and publish games and other content), activate two-factor authentication, register for or participate in our events, complete surveys, or contact us via player support requests or customer service. If a violation of our community rules is reported, these excerpts may be transferred to Northhack to help us enforce these community rules. If you participate in a contest, we collect your application information and any other information we may need to confirm your eligibility and process payouts. We collect the information you choose to provide to us in these or other similar cases.

B. Information We Collect Automatically

If you participate in a contest or competitive event, or engage with our support, we collect the information you choose to provide to us in these or other similar cases. We collect certain information automatically when you visit, access, or use Northhack services. This includes information about your game or application usage, purchases, entitlements, and other activity within Northhack services, which is typically associated with your account (if you are logged into your Northhack account or using a third-party account to access Northhack services) or with an identifier we have assigned to your device or profile. The specific types of information we collect automatically may vary, but generally include:

  • Usage information and statistics about how you interact with Northhack services, including which program you used or game you played, how long you used or played it and when, gameplay attempts, progress and outcomes, saved settings, and crash reports.

  • The general location of your device, which we typically derive from your device's IP address.

Northhack Media services use technologies such as cookies, log files, and web beacons to automatically collect the types of information listed above. Some of these technologies may create small files or record-keeping tools that can be stored on your device. They help us, our service providers, and third parties recognize your device and provide information about how you use and interact with Northhack services. For example, they support our ability to authenticate users, remember settings, manage advertising, customize experiences, and perform data analytics. Please note that if certain features of Northhack services are provided by third parties, these third parties may also use automated data collection methods and may record information about your use of Northhack services, their services, or others' websites over time. For example, when you use Northhack services that include third-party software, these third-party providers may collect information through their technology. These features are subject to those third parties' privacy notices and policies.

C. Information We Collect From Other Sources

In some cases, we may also receive information about you from service providers and third parties in connection with your use of Northhack services or your interactions with us on other platforms.

For example, some other developers allow you to use your Northhack account to sign into their service. And if you choose to link your Northhack Media account to your account on a third-party social media (like Steam), or other similar website or service, or if you interact with an advertisement for one of Northhack services on an external website or service, the company operating that website or service may share certain information with Northhack in accordance with its own privacy practices. Your privacy settings on the other company's website or service typically control the types of information they may share with Northhack, so be sure to review and update them regularly. Common examples of linked accounts may include your third-party account's display name and user ID, as well as associated device information, name, and email address.

D. Fraud Prevention and Anti-Cheat

Providing users with a fair, balanced, and competitive experience on Northhack services is extremely important to us. We strictly prohibit cheating, hacking, account theft, and other unauthorized or fraudulent activity on Northhack services. We use anti-cheat and fraud prevention technologies to prevent cheating and fraud to help us identify and prevent malicious activity. These services may collect and analyze data about your computer and the software on your computer to detect cheats and may be provided by Northhack or by service providers.

3. HOW DO WE USE THE INFORMATION?

Generally, we use the information we collect (either individually or in combination with other information collected as described in this policy) to help us provide, improve, personalize, analyze, and market Northhack services. This includes using it for purposes such as:

  • Creating, verifying, and managing user accounts and features;

  • Personalizing your experience, including by presenting content or features better tailored to you or your interests, or our inferences about your interests (for example, if you frequently play games of a certain genre, we may infer you'd be interested in that genre and suggest similar games to you);

  • Marketing Northhack services, including managing, customizing, and measuring the effectiveness of our ads, promotional offers, surveys, and events;

  • Managing alpha, beta, or early access testing (and collecting feedback);

  • Fulfilling our legal or contractual obligations and enforcing our terms;

  • Providing Northhack services, as well as support and assistance for them, including by responding to inquiries, processing transactions or requests, and communicating with users (e.g., by sending service and account-related messages and updates);

  • Developing, delivering, and improving Northhack services and other offerings, some of which may be offered in collaboration with other parties;

  • Conducting data analytics (such as analyzing how Northhack services are used so we can better understand, improve, and customize them);

  • Securing Northhack Services, e.g., by detecting fraud and otherwise protecting Northhack and other users from unlawful or harmful acts;

  • Improving technologies or processes used to achieve these purposes (e.g., training machine learning models used to detect or moderate toxic, unlawful, or harmful content or behavior and enforce our terms and policies like our community rules).

We may also process information that does not individually identify you, including aggregated or de-identified information that we create or collect from other sources. This information helps us better understand larger groups of users. If we combine this information with information that identifies you, we will treat it in the manner described in this Privacy Policy. However, please note that this Privacy Policy does not limit our ability to process information that does not personally identify you, and we may use and disclose aggregated or de-identified information for any reason permitted by law.

4. HOW DO WE SHARE INFORMATION?

We may share some of the information we collect to help operate and improve Northhack services. Depending on how you interact with us, common examples may include sharing:

  • With other users (e.g., if you use social features like chat);

  • With console and platform partners (for example, to facilitate gameplay when you access Northhack services through a third-party console provider);

  • With other game developers (e.g., to enable features for games you acquire through the Northhack Game Store);

  • Publicly (for example, your display name, content you create or share, basic game statistics, and other similar information may be publicly available to others);

  • With service providers working on our behalf to help support Northhack services in accordance with our instructions (for example, cloud providers, payment processors, or marketing and advertising partners);

  • When we believe we must do so to comply with the law or to protect you, Northhack, or others (for example, in response to a court order or subpoena, as part of an investigation into fraud or other illegal activity, or violations of our terms or policies, or if necessary to protect others from death or serious bodily harm or property damage);

  • With other Northhack entities (including to help provide support for Northhack services internationally);

  • In connection with certain types of business transactions (e.g., in the event of a reorganization or sale of all or a substantial portion of our business);

  • With your permission (for example, if you link external accounts to your Northhack account, or use your Northhack account to sign into third-party games and services or participate in cross-promotional events);

  • We may also share information that does not identify you with third parties, including aggregated or de-identified information.

5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

We design Northhack services to be welcoming to users of all ages around the world. This means we collect age information from users, and some of our services will provide a different experience based on what we know about a user's age and where they reside. The information below is provided to help parents and guardians understand our privacy practices for children (under 13 or the age of digital consent in the user's region, whichever is higher). When a user identifies as a child, they are placed on an account shared with their guardian until they are no longer a child as defined above. Parental controls allow these accounts to play Northhack games. Northhack collects limited personal information from these accounts to operate them, in each case in accordance with applicable youth privacy and protection laws:

  • Persistent identifiers such as IP address, game platform account ID, device identifiers, and similar data collected using website tracking technologies to provide and maintain Northhack services (including analytics to improve them), protect the security and integrity of:

  • Date of birth and country to determine age and apply appropriate settings

  • Parent's or guardian's email address to notify and request consent for additional features (no additional features will be delivered if the parent does not respond within 14 days)

Users, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and facilitate in-game personalization, such as game development and avatar selection. If a user with a shared guardian account contacts us with a question or request, any personal information provided will be deleted after the request is resolved. When we share personal data from joint guardian accounts externally, it is to help us fulfil these limited purposes (e.g., sharing with consoles to run your game or with our cloud storage providers).

A. Notice, Consent, and Parental Controls

We collect a parent's or guardian's email address from a child playing to send an email to the parent or guardian stating that the child has created a shared guardian account.

Developers and publishers on each product listing can be viewed before you download or review our publisher index. Please contact us as described below if you have questions about Northhack data sharing with these third parties. For additional information, please see "What Information Do We Collect?", "How Do We Use Information?" and "How Do We Share Information?" above.

B. Children's and Parents' Privacy Rights

Child users and their parents can exercise their individual privacy rights as described in Section 6 below. Parental controls allow parents and guardians to change the choices they have made regarding their child's use of specific features such as voice chat. Parents and guardians can also review the child's personal data held by Northhack Game and delete their child's Northhack account (which deletes the personal data and prevents further collection). If you wish to exercise these rights or ask questions about how we handle children's personal data, please refer to the "Contact Us" section below or go directly to our parental support request form.

6. YOUR CHOICES AND CONTROLS

We strive to provide you with meaningful choices about the personal data we collect. The specific choices available to you often vary depending on the exact nature of our relationship with you, such as the Northhack services you use. Common examples include:

  • You may request that we provide access to, or that we correct or delete, personal data we have collected from you. Please submit a request to access, update, or delete personal data associated with your Northhack account by contacting us as described in "Contact Us" below. Please note that we may ask you for additional information to help us verify who you are before completing your request.

  • Where applicable, you may also have the option to appeal or otherwise request human review of decisions made using automated methods.

  • You may change your preferences at any time by updating your Northhack account settings or by contacting us with your request (see "Contact Us" below).

  • You may change the settings in your browser or mobile device to block, manage, delete, or limit tracking technologies like cookies. Blocking or disabling cookies may cause Northhack services not to function as intended and some features may not be available.

  • If you are under 18 years old and have a Northhack account, you may ask us to remove or anonymize certain content you have provided on Northhack Services. Please submit requests for assistance with content removal or editing on Northhack services.

Some parts of the world provide individuals with specific choices related to their personal data under local law.

7. RETENTION

Because the specific personal data we process and our reasons for doing so often vary depending on how you use Northhack Services, the length of time we retain it may also vary. We generally store personal data for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy (such as fulfilling our legal obligations, managing internal records, enforcing our terms, and resolving disputes), unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. The key criteria we consider when determining specific retention periods often include minimum requirements under applicable law, relevant industry standards, the types of information at issue (e.g., its sensitivity level), relevance to potential litigation or similar proceedings (e.g., to defend against legal claims), and whether the information is required to prevent fraud or similar misuse of Northhack services (including to uphold prohibitions against cheating and other unauthorized behaviour). For example, if you create a Northhack account, we will generally store the personal data associated with your Northhack account for as long as necessary to maintain your account, provide the Northhack services you have requested, enforce any terms applicable to and governing your use of Northhack services, and maintain appropriate records to reflect how we deliver Northhack services to you. If we become aware of unauthorized disclosure of your personal information, we will notify you as required by law and take steps to protect your information.

9. UPDATES

We’ll update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or relevant laws. When we do, we’ll change the date noted at the top of the policy. In some cases, we may also notify you of the relevant changes by email or within the Northhack services. Please review this policy regularly to make sure that you understand your relationship with Northhack and the ways we may collect, use, and share information in connection with the Northhack services.

A. Data Transfers

When you use the Northhack Services, your information may be transferred to or stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. The data protection laws and rules in these countries may be different than those where you live. We rely on various legal mechanisms to help lawfully support transfers of information outside the country of collection where appropriate. If permissible under local law, you’re authorizing Northhack to process your information in any of the locations where we operate (including the United States) by using the Northhack Services.
